Ruud Lighting wanted to present their customers with the cost-savings which could be garnered by changing to a different lighting technology.   As part of this initiative, they had devised a spread-sheet based calculator that determined the pay-back period when changing to a different technology. Although the calculation was comprehensive, it was too complicated and involved too much explanation for proper usage.

Evo had been called to implement this online calculator.  However, due to its complexity, we needed to simplify the process by examining the logic of the calculation, forcing acceptable assumptions into the calculation and removing redundant data inputs.

After the calculation was simplified, Evo continued to design a single-column user-friendly interface for the application. The user was assisted by the implementation of default values, active help buttons and prompts. The user was also encouraged to provide contact information so that Ruud Lighting’s CSRs could follow up with them.
