If you are like Evolution Point and likes testing the latest and greatest, you may find yourself in our situation with Facebook. We created a company profile page on Facebook. Then Facebook vanity URL came long and you applied the vanity URL of your choice to your company profile account. Then Facebook came up with the concept of Fan Pages so you created one for your company. Then you realize that the company profile account is now deemed redundant. Now, how do you transfer the vanity URL from the company profile page to the company fan page?

As my interest in learning how social media is used for charities and non-profits peaked, I found that there are many (free) websites that allow organizations or individuals to set up their cause and raise money for their purpose. However, I have found only one that integrates social aspects of its users into the fundraising process. I’m quite sure there will be more in the future, but presently, most websites never quite leveraged the social power of its users. After all, causes are all about social engagement and impact, isn’t it?

Evolution Point has done work with many non-profits organizations including Spiritual Spa, Family Matters Chicago and Children's Cardiomyopathy Foundation to name a few. So I thought I'll describe a couple of methods of how non-profits and charities use social media to raise awareness, increase donations and engage with their audience.
